A body of hard-won expertise was being filed as personal and therefore unusable: multi-state surrogacy legal coordination, representing himself in family court, and twenty-five years of self-designed training, thermal and fasting protocols.

Treat every one of them as an engagement where he was the client. 'Just because I did something for myself doesn't mean I wasn't the client.'

Expertise is built by navigating a problem to its end, and the identity of the person paying does not change what was learned. Someone who has personally carried a surrogacy through contract, pre-birth order and delivery across three states knows the terrain better than a consultant who has only read about it. Filing that as private was a category error that threw away the knowledge to protect the privacy, when only the privacy needed protecting.

The capabilities were named and made sellable while the people inside them stayed entirely out: the coordination expertise ships, the family does not. It also gave a name to a capability that ran through his whole record without ever being claimed, coordinating with counsel across construction, entity, offering and service agreements.

Separate the capability from the biography. The skill is yours to sell; the people who were in the room with you are not.

He drew the line himself between the expertise and the people, which is why the expertise can be used at all.
