LACMA is the most prestigious name on my whole civic record, and I got there as a volunteer, not a paid vendor. For two years I acted as project coordinator and owner's representative on installations across the museum campus, the same owner's rep discipline I sold to paying clients, just given to an institution I wanted to support. Separately, my crew at Tellus Build fabricated and installed an interactive sculpture for one of their exhibitions, Maria Elena Gonzalez's Magic Carpet Home, and CODAworx later featured it to their whole professional network. Nobody paid me to volunteer at LACMA. Representing an owner well is a discipline, and I wanted to prove I could hold that discipline even when there was no invoice attached to it.
