Updated September 2026

Outbound email was bouncing across multiple inboxes, drafts were quietly disappearing, and the team kept running campaigns and tweaking messages like the problem was the writing. It wasn't the writing.

I halted all outreach sending. Paused list cleaning spend entirely. We were going to reassess the sending domain and the pipeline from the ground up before another message went out.

Spending more on list cleaning and message tweaks while the underlying domain is bad just burns money and reputation for zero deliverability gain. You have to diagnose the pipe before you tune the message, or you're just polishing a car with a broken engine.

Sending paused that same day, and a full domain and pipeline reassessment became the next priority.

A quiet inbox and a string of deleted drafts means check the pipe, not write a better email.

I was willing to stop revenue generating activity outright rather than keep throwing effort at a problem I suspected was structural.
