A week of ledger work went into reconciling career totals. Two versions of the built-work total, two versions of the year count, a collective built-value line and a P&L-managed line on the firm's own website. Minutes after I settled my own Tellus totals, I stopped.

I'm refusing the whole class of number. I never want to do these macro numbers. Everybody knows they're fake. We just talk about impact, role, results, philosophy. We focus on the stories we're telling. This isn't about fewer numbers, it's a position held out loud, to the point it's absurd for anyone to even ask.

Everybody knows you can't verify them, so you've got to focus on a process that resonates, work product, deliverables, and a personal connection. A total nobody can check signals inflation to exactly the reader it's meant to impress, and it had been the source of every fight in the record.

The rule went into the operating constitution the same hour. Fourteen ledger rows got marked internal record only. The partner record, the twin corpus rules, the profile paste and the wiki pages all got rewritten to role and results. The website's five macro lines are queued to come down.

When a fact can't be verified by the reader, it's not a credential. Show the work instead.

I'd just asked for those totals to be settled. I changed my mind in public and said why, which is the behavior the rule asks of everyone else.
