Updated September 2026

I started Three Trails in 2019 as a consulting and holding entity. Greensleeves Steakhouse lived on it as an asset. Years later the company needed a public identity that matched what it had actually become, an advisory operating group, not a single restaurant holding company. Instead of starting a brand new company from scratch, I let Three Trails evolve in place into Common Ground, carrying the founding date and the real operating history forward instead of resetting the clock. A company's age is its credibility. Restarting the entity to get a cleaner public story would have thrown away six years of actual operating history for a tidier press release, and that's a bad trade. Common Ground now carries 2019 as its founding year for credibility purposes, with the Three Trails and Greensleeves era as its origin chapter, not 2024, the year the current name and masthead actually launched. The honest founding date is the one where the real risk taking started, not the one where the current name got printed on the door. I chose to tell the truer, longer story about the company's age even though the tidier, shorter story would have been easier to explain.
