What it is
An in-house legal team was doing its medical-record work by hand. Paralegals gathered the records, read them, summarized them and put the result into a form an attorney could use, case after case, at a recurring cost in the hundreds of thousands.
The decision
Zen Aegis took the manual paralegal steps on as one automated workflow, from gathering the records to delivering a summary an attorney can work from,.
What Zen Aegis did
- Automated the gathering of medical records for each case.
- Automated the summarization of those records.
- Automated delivery of attorney-ready work product, replacing the manual paralegal steps.
- Built a separate medical-record review product as a proof of concept on synthetic data: it builds a chronology of significant events, surfaces contradictions and gaps, and keeps every assertion traceable to a source line.
Results
- On one case, work that historically cost about $75,000 was delivered at a fraction of the cost in one-tenth of the time, a 90 percent cut in time.
- Hundreds of thousands of dollars in recurring paralegal cost displaced.
